As usual every year, the giant Google is launching a new version of Android in 2022. Android 13 will succeed Android 12, a major version that has made its users dream.
With Android 13, the first version of which is codenamed “Tiramisu”, Google guarantees more security and functionality. Here is 5 major new features on Android 13 that you will love!
1. A more aesthetic and dynamic design
Android 13 should be more aesthetic and dynamic than Android 12 when it comes to design. Google has notably improved the dynamic Monet theme while increasing its functions. As on Android 12, Monet will continue to adjust the design of system menus and app icons according to the user-defined wallpaper.
With Android 13, the dynamic theme offers more accentuated color tones, with a wider color range. Google has also redesigned the taskbar design. It will now display more harmoniously.
Uses of the Android OS will now be able to have up to 6 apps in this bar.
Google has also revised the Android 12 drop-down menu to make it more practical. That of Android 13 has a new button and one new icon. The button facilitates access to the user’s profile, and the icon indicates the number of applications running in the background.
2. A less energy-consuming system
Google offers various functions to improve the autonomy of smartphones on Android 13. For example, users will now receive a notification as soon as an application consumes too much energy background.
They can then implement measures to limit energy consumption. Android 12 has a feature called Phantom Process Killer which blocks the operation of power-hungry background applications.
However, the latter prevents necessary applications from functioning properly. Android 13 solves the problem by offering the possibility of disabling the function for certain applications.
A new feature called “The Android Resource Economy” (TARE) is also expected. It will allow the system to monitor background applications in real time. It will facilitate the energy consumption control by authorizing or not the execution of certain tasks.
3. Improved privacy and security
Android 13 wants to focus more on the data security and confidentiality. To enforce these settings, the new version of Android requires apps to give more details on access permissions that they ask.
From now on, applications can no longer request access to all media files. They are required to specify what types of content they target. In particular, they may specify:
- Pictures ;
- Videos ;
- Audios, etc.
In practice, a photo application will therefore no longer be able to access audio content, for example. Android 13 also offers a variety of security patches to make smartphones less vulnerable.
This operating system also intends to adopt a new support for data encryption. This support should limit the risk of man-in-the-middle attacks.
4. An easy connection between your smartphone and your Chromebook
A Chromebook is a type of laptop that runs Chrome OS. With Android 13, you will be able to read messages received on your smartphone and reply to them on your Chromebook.
The new version of Android should also allowuse smartphone applications on your computer. The idea is that you can take advantage of the features of the smartphone while working on your computer without switching from one device to another.
5. The ability to directly scan QR codes
QR codes are increasingly present in everyday life. They allow access to a website, connection to a WiFi network, playback of an audio file, product information, etc. With Android 12, you have to download a dedicated application to be able to scan them.
Android 13, on the other hand, allows you to scan a QR code without the need to install an additional application. This OS offers a shortcut that gives direct access to a QR Code reader.
With those 5 major noveltiesyou will enjoy using Android 13. Although this operating system does not bring huge changes to the user interface, it does provide a better user experience.
