Salé – Mr. Abdeslam Belkchour was unanimously elected on Monday as the new president of the National Professional Football League (LNFP), replacing Mr. Said Naciri.
This election took place during the ordinary general assembly of the league, for the 2020-2021 season, marked by the presence of representatives of 43 clubs (out of 53) and held at the Mohammed VI football complex in Maâmora (suburb dirty).
Mr. Belkchour, who previously held the post of vice-president of the LNFP, must form his new office in the next two months.
“It is with great regret that I announce my resignation as President of the LNFP. I cannot fully assume this function because of my professional occupations”, said the resigning president, Said Naciri, elected for the first time at the head of this body in 2015. He was re-elected for a second term in 2019. .
“It’s a heavy responsibility, Mr. Belkchour told the press after his election as head of the governing body of national professional football. “National football is now experiencing very positive changes and influence on the continental and international levels,” he said.
“We must continue on this momentum and move forward,” he said, recalling the projects launched by the FRMF in terms, in particular, of infrastructure, training and supervision, among others.
“The LNFP must move up a gear in order to support these projects,” he considered, noting that the clubs and the LNFP are the spearhead of the FRMF and a showcase for national football.
For his part, Mr. Said Naciri said that professionalism is the only way to ensure the development of Moroccan football.
“The experience of professionalism is only at its beginning, but we remain confident for the future,” he said.
For his part, the president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Mr. Fouzi Lekjaa indicated that 2022 will have been a landmark year in the history of national football, with the qualification of the Atlas Lions for the World Cup. world (Qatar-2022), of the U17 women’s national team at the World India-2022 and the coronations of Wydad de Casablanca and Renaissance de Berkane, respectively, in the Champions League and the African Football Confederation Cup (CAF ).
“From now on, we have to take up a new challenge, namely the qualification next July of the women’s national team for the next World Cup”, he continued.
Mr. Lekjaa insisted, moreover, that “the next season will only be launched with sports companies”, continuing that transparency and good governance are the corollary of good management of sports.
He noted, under this heading, that the training project is also a priority and requires tools for its implementation in the field, in terms of infrastructure and professional supervisors.
During this AGO, the league’s moral and financial reports (2020-2021 season) were unanimously approved.
Reading these reports, the secretary general of the league, Mr. Khalid Mghafri, dwelt, in the moral report, on the difficulties that hindered the progress of the Botola Pro D1 “Inwi” during the 2020-2021 season due to , in particular, of covid-19 and the participation of the national team of local players in the 2021 African Nations Championship in Cameroon.
He welcomed, in this sense, the closing, on the scheduled date, of this sports season, without any match scheduled or postponed, considering that this achievement is “the result of everyone’s work”.
He also mentioned the organization by the LNFP, in collaboration with the DTN, of training sessions for the technical and medical executives of the clubs affiliated to it.
The moral report detailed, for its part, the budget allocated to the league through divisions 1 and 2 of the Botola Pro.
