Google teases (again) its Pixel 7 and delivers new clues

Last straight line for Google before the presentation of the Pixel 7. The firm remembers our good memories by evoking once again its future flagships. She even takes the opportunity to slip a clue.

Google will present the Pixel 7 (Pro) and the Pixel Watch at an event on October 6. This date has already been known for several weeks and this meeting will also be an opportunity to discuss Nest products. On Twitter, the Californian firm wouldn’t want us to forget this event and teases the arrival of its new Pixel collection. In a mini-clip of fifteen seconds, we can see the various products that will soon join the ranks of Google.

Shown for the first time at I/O 2022, the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro will be the brand’s new flagships. Two necessarily highly anticipated smartphones and the Pixel 7 Pro has already convinced… a few lucky ones. In a video recently posted on YouTube, Google presents its Pixel 7 Pro to members of Team Pixel and the finding is without appeal. The future flagship of the brand seduces the first testers in this trailer which is above all close to an advertising spot. Blurred at the start of the video, the back of the next high-end model appears at the end.

Pre-orders from October 6

This sequence doesn’t just heighten the expectation; it allows Google to slip important information. In fact, we learn that the pre-orders for the Pixel 7 Pro will open on October 6, i.e. the day of the presentation. It’s a safe bet that the “classic” Pixel 7 will be marketed at the same time than his big brother. Finally, the Pixel Watch is quickly mentioned and could be inspired by smartphones. Also note that the brand does not mention any difference in treatment between Europe and the United States.

Finally, a German site and the very well-informed Roland Quandt announce that the telephones will be delivered from October 18. The Pixel Watch could be a little late, with shipping starting around November 4. Its price would also be rather high.

In the meantime, it is again and again the leaks that accompany Google’s products. This time, it’s the Pixel 7 Pro’s processor that makes a notable appearance on Geekbench. A discovery that we owe to the developer Kuba Wojciechowski.

Google Tensor 2: the chip is revealed

The Tensor 2 would resume the CPU architecture of its predecessor by equipping itself with two Cortex-X1 cores, two Cortex-A76 and four Cortex-A55. A smooth evolution for this SoC now engraved in 4 nm, compared to 5 nm on the previous generation. Google would mainly play on the frequencies to bring a performance increase of about 10%.

The Tensor 2 should therefore not surprise on this point, but the chip would benefit from other improvements. The graphics part provides for the integration of a Mali-G710 GPU and would offer performance up (+20%)with a better energy efficiency (+20%). Two interesting avenues for improvement for Google, which should bring improvements in artificial intelligence. This area is often the strong point of the Californian giant and its smartphones.
