The Celtics talked too much with the referees

This was one of Ime Udoka’s watchwords, before the start of the regular season, when he arrived in Boston: no longer to challenge refereeing decisions. The coach had warned that it was his job to complain to the referees, not that of his troops.

He had again driven the nail in the playoffs, against the Bucks, while his players were sometimes less concentrated in defense since they spoke to the men in gray.

In Game 5 against Golden State, the Celtics lost their cool and started to argue with the referees. As he did in Game 2, Ime Udoka repeatedly made it known that he disagreed with the decisions. He took a technical foul for that and was also seen in deep discussion with referee Tony Brothers in the last quarter.

“He didn’t like the way I pointed at him”says the coach for Mass Live, before discussing the general attitude of his team with the referees in this fifth round. “I think it was a bit like that the whole game. Not just in the last act. It’s probably something that we shouldn’t do as much, that we’ve done too much. »

Al Horford agrees with his coach. The Celtics, who already have many problems to settle in attack, must above all concentrate on the field.

“It’s not our best face”concedes the interior about these discussions with the referees. “During the playoffs, I feel like we were able to avoid that. There, for some reason that escapes me, it got to us. It is not possible, we cannot allow ourselves to be affected by the arbitration. We have to move on and be better for Game 6.”
