Paris (VNA) – The Vietnam Food Festival 2022 was organized on June 18 at Place Monge in the 5th arrondissement of Paris by the Vietnamese Association in France (UGVF) in collaboration with Foyer Vietnam. This is the second edition of this kind which is part of the activities of the Ici Vietnam Festival, to present the typical culture of Vietnam to the French public.

With the aim of promoting and introducing local inhabitants to the culinary particularities of Vietnamese daily life, from street food to those served in restaurants, this gastronomic festival brought together the participation of 26 Vietnamese associations, organizations, companies and restaurants in France. such as Foyer Vietnam, Ba Noi, Ngoc Xuyen, Thanh Binh Jeune, Tra Art, France Plumfoot…. The dishes and drinks typical of the regions of Vietnam such as bo bun, pho, nem, banh my Vietnam spring rolls, sugar cane juice, tea, coffee… have attracted a large number of local gourmets and gourmands. In addition, dance performances by artists of Vietnamese origin in a contemporary style, as well as folk games such as shuttlecock, or books by Franco-Vietnamese authors were also held, bringing a lively and festive atmosphere during a hot summer day.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toàn Thang hailed and highly appreciated the idea of ​​holding Ici Vietnam Festival. An event demonstrating the dynamism and creativity of the associative movement in France in general and of the UGVF in particular, helping to create momentum for activities in honor of the fiftieth anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations and 10 years of partnership strategic between the two countries, Vietnam and France.

For her part, the mayor of the 5th arrondissement of Paris, Florence Berthout, said that for many years, she and the local authorities have always supported the cultural events of the Vietnamese community. She said that Vietnam has many typical cultural values, including cuisine, which interest many French people who want to discover them.

During the festival, customers expressed their love for Vietnamese cuisine. Mr. Michel, a local resident, said that “as usual, Vietnamese dishes are very delicious, with lots of choices, nicely presented with spiced vegetables, vermicelli and especially spring rolls”. Not only Mr. Michel, but many other guests also showed their special love for this famous Vietnamese dish, as well as other dishes such as banh mi, pho, bo bun.

Mr. Benjamin Isare, deputy mayor of the 5th arrondissement of Paris, expressed his satisfaction at seeing a large number of guests come to the festival. He commented, “Even though it was very hot, the festival still attracted a large number of guests, which proves the appeal of Vietnamese dishes and we are very pleased.”

On the side of the sponsors, Mr. Jean-Christophe Mercier, Vice-President of Vinfast Europe, declared that Vinfast is honored to participate in the sponsorship of the event because in addition to making people discover Vietnamese culinary culture, it is also an opportunity to introduce the presence of Vinfast and its electric car on the French market.

Ici Festival Vietnam is the idea of ​​a group of young French people of Vietnamese origin who wish to organize multidisciplinary events such as cinema, the arts, cooking to make people discover Vietnamese cultural specificities in France.

The idea has been jointly supported and organized by UGVF and Foyer Vietnam since 2018. According to Jérôme Tham Vo My, member of the Organizing Committee, this year, the Vietnam Food Festival is the continuation of the first edition, held in 2021 with success thanks to the participation of more than 3,000 visitors. “The idea of ​​this year is to discover the Vietnamese culinary culture, not only the tradition, but also the creativity of the Vietnamese of France”. – VNA
